Is that it enables the worst among us, those dull, uncreative, tyrannical little men we call bureaucrats to make what looks like art.

That's the real purpose of the entire AI industry, to remove the obstacle of creative, talented and dedicated people from between the worst people and what they want. No brave soldiers to refuse orders from warmongers, no artists to question propagandists, no workers to slow down the worst corporations, no whistleblowers anywhere. That's the dystopia we're heading for. All thanks to the biggest bootlickers, programmers. (Except you , you're the good one.)

Artists deserve what's happening. Modern Art is a soulless abomination and they've pushed their untalented money laundering scheme on the public for generations now... fuck them.

You're implying that the degenerate garbage which is classified as "art" these days isn't as bad as this AI stuff.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, Octoclops.

Why's that?

These AI are all just information tools. They are sometimes impressive, but they don't have that spark of life that makes us human. (Frankly, only a small portion of humans seem to have it either. Many or most seem like bots. But some of us are real.) They learn by processing massive amounts of input data, but can't make inferences or rely on any kind of instinct or intuition. They don't have any will of their own or intrinsic drive.

We are made in the image of God. We have the capacity for reason. We're animated by something totally mysterious and beyond anyone's comprehension.

The people who say "an AI that's like that is just around the corner" either have an ulterior motive or are just clueless people who mimic the concerned line to sound smart.

And I get that there will be some problems. Like the AI takes people's jobs at some point. I would say the problems we currently face in the current day are much worse than that, so I wouldn't worry about AI.

I love AI art.

It proves that art, at least the kind of art it produces, is pointless.

Don't like it? Make your own art that's better. Oh, you can't.

It's derivative. It's corporate. It sets a low bar that people can't seem to cross. In its own way, it creates barriers.

It proves that art can be reduced to mathematics. But so can everything else.

Don't like it? Make your own art that's better. Oh, you can't.

Technically better, no. I can barely outdraw Dall-e mini, much less the newer stuff. Better is subjective though. Some people would consider any art made by a person to be better because it can communicate something, rather than being an empty product of an algorithm trained on billions of images, probably including a few terabytes of furry porn.

Nah the worst thing is that it's shit. I can see it. It looks virtual, you know like one of those circles of hell? I see it.

When's the last time you saw some? It gets 2x better every few months now. You probably won't be able to tell the difference soon.

Tech advances in TOO stages:

Tech will never be able to...

Oh, okay. But not as good as humans.

Oh.

Soon maybe. But for now there are tools to tell. You're own brain is an example.

Tools like that are unreliable because the people who may deceive you have access to them to. They can be incorporated into the process (just keep modifying the image until it no longer registers as AI generated) which is pretty similar to how it works already.

Not that it really matters. AI generated images can still cost people jobs, trick dumber people, affect people's emotions, beliefs, aesthetic tastes and politics, even if they are easily detected as fake or admitted to be.

I know it's not fashionable anymore to say anyone shouldn't be able to do anything they feel like but some people should not have access to what they can't create themselves.
