I've found this from renovating questions, to programming questions, musical / instrument questions, anything. The people on poal are way smarter and way more broadly life experienced and "renaissance men" than anything on even reddit niche forums.

People on reddit, even in niche forums often are dunning kruger smart. They give you the cookie cutter box advice any "main stream person" would give.

I can concur. I've tried asking technical questions in technical forums, and usually only get "Why are you doing that? DO this!" when I clearly stated that the parameters of the project require it done a certain way.

They're good for research, but if you have anything more than a simple you-can-google-it question, it's useless.

gpt-4 via bing and especially thru neeva (which uses bing and others) is tarded good right now. Makes reddit useless in comparison more or less.
