It's funny, because for years I played a stupid video game (that was filled with trolls) where you couldn't block an annoying user.

When confronted, the administrators took the attitude that the game was somehow less hardcore if you could merely block people who were annoying.

I tend to think that this underlies a lot of Putt's decision making. He seems to see censorship of any sort as the antithesis of free speech, rather than an enabler of free speech.

I've got to disagree on the last bit about Putt. The lack of clarity on the recent bans for vote manipulation, which became clear using alts and coordinating brigades aren't necessary for, creates a chilling effect on Voat.

Thank you for speaking up. I don't think that the unease on Voat is that restrictions are being put in place. I think the unease is that Putt is terrible at rolling these type of things out. He clearly has no previous experience. Imagine if I needed to impose some sort of restriction on you, for example if I needed to prevent you from using your cell phone from 8:20 PM to 8:25 PM at night or whatever. There's bound to be a way to make such an imposition seem either friendly, or failing that at least professional. Putt just doesn't have a clue. It's all a big sandbox to him, and he doesn't get it.
