2007 Focus
Damn. I have a 2018 Focus with 47k miles and it’s already giving me clutch issues.
It will too, and it will probably fail a lot earlier than you want.
The generation I have, they used a traditional automatic transmission, or in my case, a 5-speed manual. Later generations they tried a funny dual-clutch system similar to what VW used, but used a dry clutch instead of a wet clutch. That didn't work, and that's why you still see an appreciable number of MK1 and MK2 versions on the road, but very few MK3 and MK4 cars. Admittedly, mine does have issues like the A/C quit years ago and I never bothered repairing it, but the car itself still runs strong and gives me 30+ MPG if I take it easy.
(That's what I remember about the problem, details may vary a bit.)
I’ve already had to have the TCM and clutch replaced under warranty.
That stupid clutch is ridiculous. I mean I get cost savings and whatnot but just give me something that works. I’m going to sell it soon.
