I set my volume on a base 60 scale. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, 30, 60 being the loudest. We can differentiate quiet volumes well but when it gets loud, go fucking loud.

You using an old version of alsa etc?

Windows, used

I have music hardware without linux support so it's win or mac for me

Lordy you gotta buy all your equipment first checking for Linux support

Yeah unless you're using a dedicated sound card and a Radeon card or Intel builtin video your better off since Nvidia is garbage at this time driver wise and the best audio linux distro uses KDE last I read so nvidia is out totally with that DE. If you want to do audio on linux a decent Dell with an Intel cpu is your best bet. I ran a Dell for a while and it ran great with Linux.

Why don't you just make 10 the loudest?

I only use even numbers... its weird right?

Oh you OCD crazy person. Everyone knows digital music must be set in multiples of 8 since music is encoded in multiples of 8bit. You have a problem now time to face it, your ocd is stuck in analog, time to grow up to the digital age. :)

But it goes to 11

I only use even numbers or anything that ends with 5

I could do 10. As long as it's an even number.

Well my volume levels go up to multiples of 11, so there!
