Over the past few weeks I bought a low end high end (that's what I call it) Felt mountain bike. It retailed at about $700. I bought it used for $200 and it was in like new condition.

I wanted to put some better parts on it so I upgraded the following components: installed hydraulic disc brakes, upgraded suspension fork, pedals, headset, grips, tires, chainring, rear cassette and crankset.

I fully tuned it and also converted it from a 3 x 8 drivetrain to a 1 x 8 drivetrain. This eliminated the front derailleur. It went from 33lbs to 29lbs and now it is a pretty respectable mountain bike.

I enjoyed this product and I feel thankful to have a nice bike.

Sweet! Now move onto motorcycles!

I have owned motorcycles but could never get into riding.

The weather isn't great for riding here and the summer is short. I prefer being on a trail in the woods on a mountain bike getting exercise.

As long as you have a functioning mind you can do pretty much anything. Sure sometimes it will take longer and you'll fuck up more but that's all part of the learning process.

If you're on FB check out "Central Florida Mountain Bikers" though I am not in FL and can't ride with them I find it's a good group with lots of great advice and videos.

gratz man! dirty hand = clear conscience.

Crazy how 4lbs can make such a difference. You added lightness and improved feeling, congratulations on your tune.

Thanks man. I just got done buffing it out with my electric buffer and now it looks so shiny.

I have to get back to cycling. I couldn't figure out if I wanted a road or mountain bike so I bought an lightweight aluminum hybrid bike. I prefer to ride on smooth roads (no cars) than rough terrain. It's more relaxing foe me to settle into a rhythm than have to constantly evaluate terrain and make adjustments.

Yep, first thing I'm going to do is get rid of the front derailleur on my bike. That low gear seems to be worthless and probably better to walk it. Maybe you need to keep the big pedal gear to out run bears?

I love to trail ride but I ride around the city more. I only ride mountain bikes because I like to jump curbs and I ride on the sidewalk and alleys. I cannot stand the cyclists who ride in the road. Many of them don't leave room for cars to pass. They also tend to be moody assholes who get mad when you do pass them and then there's the spandex. I will never be like that.

Agree. I think I might understand the city ride thing because I did that as a kid. I can't ride on the road since to many asian people driving cars, I'd be safer riding the in West Baltimore.

I taught myself how to work on a unicycle.

The safety man wasn't happy about it.

Get some motors on it!

Dude, why can't you couple super capacitors with a battery system, then you can get small bursts of overcharge. If the motors can handle it, it would greatly improve acceleration, or top speed, and since they're super capacitors they charge quickly. Then with a controller you can trickle charge the battery at its optimum rate. There's a lot of untapped potential for efficiency with super capacitors. It may add weight and complexity but the efficiency gains I think would be worth it.

I dunno depends on if it’s a motor limit or battery limit. Is the motor already pulling the max amps it wants or is the battery limiting out?

I think electric bikes already have throttles so you can already spike the max amps it is wanting presumably.

I mean just slap 4 motors to one wheel lol.
