Was unintentional.

"I'm ukrainian, not russian."

And then he proceeded to explain to me how to say it in ukrainian.

And bro-hugged me out of the blue. And went on for five fucking minutes about how "you americans and us ukrainians are friends. brothers."

It was fucking weird.

If that guy ever loses his shit i'm probably on some anti-russian "this asshole insulted me" list now.

Keep in mind that most Ukrainians you see in US are jewish.

I actually had that very thought after the encounter.

Imagine if you had called a jew from Israel a Palestinian. This is the kind of reaction you would expect. He'd talk your ear off about how he's from Israel and how Israel is your greatest ally.

That absolutely did not happen. I’ve met a lot of Ukrainians most are not nice people. They are only focused on cheating tourists. Ukrainian businessman are a different story. They are just trying to make a living and utilizing the skills they were blessed with. My favorite are the Ukrainian engineers! What a smart skilled group of people. I’m sorry for your pain. You don’t deserve this.

It did happen.

It was bizarre, which is exactly why I posted it. It shocked me too.

I'm convinced that many of the Ukrainians who made it to Europe will later become terrorists because it's our fault that their country is gone because we haven't delivered enough weapons soon enough. Interesting times will follow with all the AKs, Stingers, and Javelins they brought with them.

Very similar pronunciation

Not even close.

Russian begins with a syllable that sounds like "spa"

The ukrainian word starts with a symbol that sounds like "you".

Unless you're talking about some synonyms.

Phonetically djak-yu, or something close
