What did it cost you to get into leatherwork?
A couple hundred bucks and some serious dedication. I'm always happy to answer questions and point people in the right direction, so of you get into it I'm a resource
Good stuff OP. What are your profit margins on a piece? Also, how long does it take to make the belt, for example?
Most of the actual work I do is gifts for family members, for now, to get my "reps" in. I haven't been timing myself on this piece. Shotgun wrap I posted was a job I did. Bought a $90 roll of leather which was enough leather for about 3 of those wraps, add in another $25 for eyelets oils dyes and string. Takes about 20 hands on hours to complete it and I charged $200 for it. People tell me I should charge more, but I just want to make enough to keep the hobby going
10-4. I've always been interested in this craft.
I will eventually start getting into making deer hide into buckskin leather/clothing
