Twatter free speech was an illusion, from the start. I don't remember them claiming they were pro free-speech ever.

They then put their real plan to control the compliant masses into application, once they got them captive.
I didn’t even check when it first started and I made my account. I just assumed it let you do whatever until you became a problem. But back then you had to have a decent amount of money to get online. And it worked through sms, that’s why it started with 140 characters. (SMS data limit was 140).
I can’t seem to go back more than 3 or 4 years in the twitter feeds. And search engines don’t seem to go back more than 10 years- it should atleast point to wayback/archive.
Not disagreeing with that.
The point remains. Twitter sells itself as a platform where you can achieve was OP is talking about.
Just like any platform that gives the ability to block users.
