Youre in texas. Make meat the texan way. Go sit in a comfortable blind in front of a timed feeder and shoot whatever half domesticated whitetail or exotic comes in at the appointed hour. Cut steaks. Couldnt get any easier.

This works if you know someone with land or own it yourself. Otherwise not so much. There are few if any public lands to hunt on.

How are the wild pigs? Are they safe if fully cooked?

Dunno, im in washington. No feral pigs here.

Yeah I bet next year will be a new harvest record

Not here. Deer population has been on a downward spiral for a long time due to ever increasing lion, wolf and bear numbers. And last year we had a bad blue tongue outbreak. I think its the straw that broke the canels back. Dont expect deer to rebound in my lifetime. All the cards are stacked against them.

Wow, I work on a deer ranch. First I heard of bluetongue, is that a northern thing?

Deer is overrated. Bear is fine eating. Groundhog, beaver and wild pig is even better. Rabbit is pretty good, and easy to grow your own since they breed like....rabbits! Get a bonded pair of Flemish Giants with a Hopper Popper, and you will have a herd in no time.

What fucks me is they are just slicing ribeye thinner so now mid rare is a pipe dream when the steak isn't even an inch thick.

I'll eat only meat if that's all I can afford.

I bought farm direct bacon in Ontario yesterday at $6 Cdn per pound. The grocery store price average was $8.50, but I haven't been in to check their bacon price since the inflation went crazy.

I'm counting my blessings. The farm direct grass fed hamburger increased from $6.00 to $7.50 per pound. Still very cheap compared to Toronto prices for the same product.

Better food AND cheaper prices - you want to hook up with some local farmers. Both parties gain by cutting out the middlemen.

I just got a $40 dollar Prime Rib Roast on sale for $20. Unfortunately supporting Krogers though.
