I honestly can't believe that rent has doubled in my city in less than 20 years.

I'm looking to move out of my current shitbox apartment and was searching on Craigslist for a new place when I stumbled upon a listing for a unit in my very first apartment building that I got on my own back in 2003. It was a shitty efficiency in a shitty part of the city and I paid $325 a month. Now apartments in that unit are going for $650 with ZERO upgrades.

$650 for an EFFICIENCY - a single room with a tiny kitchenette, small bathroom and a walk in closet.

In my area, 1 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms are currently priced around a $100 difference, and some within the same neighborhood.

Rents are getting out of control and my landlord just raised mine 4%..

My first apartment was in Las Vegas in 2000, and I paid 650 a month. 3 years later I rented the lower half of a ranch house in New York for 800 a month with all utilities included. My last apartment I left was over 2000 a month in Washington. Fuck this shit.

800 with utilities in NY is a steal - even if it was almost 20 years ago. Was that in the city?

My rent is about to increase by 20%.

"You want 2% per year "growth" in a home" is what I grew up with. Anything more than that meant that you're area was seeing to many "developments" from multi-family homes (apartments/condos/trailer parks) and seeing less than the 2% meant your area was going to see/seeing a decline in businesses.

Today it doesn't matter as the entire "market" is 100% jewed to the max and these increases are about using the taxpayers to fund their schemes.

You can't allow 5 million niggers/spics in every 2 years and expect the costs to be regulated on any level. Land and water are the only 2 assets worth having. Period.

You're right about land & water being the only real assets, but taxes keep going up no matter where you live. And if you build anything the taxes go up more! There's no tax-free land in the US or any of its territories. And the United States was formed to escape the taxes of England. This country is a farce operated by hypocrites.

I wasn't providing a solution, I was offering up my opinion as to what it was , what it was built on , and that the bill has come due.

Rent doubling in 20 years is some weak shit bro. 4% increase this year!?! What world do you live in where you think prices are flat over the long term?

[–] 0 pt

Reality. Especially when the national minimum wage hasn't been raised since 2005.

I've downsized twice since I retired in 2014. Sold our (mortgaged) house in Fort Collins, CO for $375K, it's listed for sale now for $775K. I bought a house near Austin, tx in 2014 for $145K, sold it in 2019 for $200K, it is valued on Zillow now for $330K. I bought a 55 year old house on a 1/2 acre lot in a small rural town in TX in 2019 for $128K. 18 months later Zillow says it worth $162K. Our property taxes are 1/4 what they were on the house near Austin.

My condo has almost doubled in value in the last 10 years. It is fucking ridiculous. I truly feel for anyone trying to rent right now. The prices are insane.

It is getting to point where some of my younger friends who have lived independently for years are considering getting roommates. It isn't right.

"value" is 100% subjective.

What about your condo has improved to the point where it doubled in this value ? Did you knock down some walls and and an entire other condo of equal or greater size ?

Did you upgrade the furnishings to a more longstanding and desirable material ? Perhaps you added on some amenities like a 10 person whirlpool and sauna.

The reality is, you changed nothing, and the demand for it went up by 200% (illegals) making the law of supply and demand take a greater effect.

New properties being built in the area increases the property values, and increased property values lead to higher taxes.

Take my county for example; in 2019 a new sports arena opened in the downtown part of the city. A new sports arena can increase property taxes and raise house values within a few years - like it happened in my city & county. It also raises sales tax on EVERYTHING.

Add another 20% national inflation on top of the increasing property taxes because of the new arena (which you & almost every SMART home owner didn't want, but was forced to have) and all residential property amounts increase - which cause rents to go up - Some landlords do it immediately with 10-20% raises while others do it 3-5% every year until they catch up with the rest.

It doesn't matter. In the end, everyone is paying more to keep a roof over their head, no matter what.

[–] 0 pt

No. This is what the county assessors use to drive up the "value" of your property. "this leads to increased taxes" Exactly. It has nothing to do with your home/condo actually having any set value it's 100% due to the jew-system wanting more of your shekels.

You are at the water, you've taken a drink, and you still refuse to understand that your thirst is quenched. You're weird.

Brah... Its market value. Is that better?

No reason to play fucking semantics on me

value...market value...dude, YOU are the one whose playing semantics games. Not me.
