I'm hostile to imperials that's just the way it is
>How about a new system based on natural units... wonder if that would be any good.
Hm...
>The metre, symbol m, is the SI unit of length. It is defined by taking the fixed numerical value of the speed of light in vacuum c to be 299792458 when expressed in the unit m⋅s−1, where the second is defined in terms of the caesium frequency ΔνCs.
Mass SI: kg Natural units: E Conversion: 1 GeV = 1.8×10-27 kg - Not really a round number, is it...
Then length and time are just 1/E in natural units, but SI units we apply a conversion factor for both:
Length SI: m Natural units: 1/E Conversion: 1 GeV-1 = 0.197×10-15 m
Time SI: s Natural units: 1/E Conversion: 1 GeV-1= 6.58×10-25 s
Neither of these convert to nice round numbers in, SI either.
We aren't going to manufacture calculators with an infinite screen length just to fit your medieval stick and stones system of measurement
This argument doesn't really make sense to me. But I will admit, all of this is above my paygrade for sure. You're probably more knowledgeable on this than I am.
>Conversion: 1 GeV = 1.8×10-27 kg - Not really a round number, is it...
Fucking predictable to me! It's 1.8 multiplied by exactly 0.[insert_26_zeros_here]1, no mystery involved here
Now do it with your sticks and stones...
Fucking predictable to me!
Never said it wasn't predictable. It's all arbitrary. Could just as easily invent a system of units where one unit of mass is called the niggerfaggot and it's equal to 1.0x10-10 GeV.
