Often I get spam calls from (ABC) DEF-####, where ABCDEF is the first 6 of my phone number. Recently I started getting so many from a different ABCDEF that I just decided to get a spam blocking app. From the quick research I've done, several allow you so block numbers containing a certain pattern or string of numbers. EZ.

I think that works in larger cities, but in smaller ones there are a small number of local ABCDEF and that is the pool that the spammers draw from. I guess if your spam app is whitelisting your phonebook that is pretty good then.
