Mush is soft, flexible, and adaptive. You can stomp on Mush, and it will still be Mush. Mush can survive anything.

What you don't want is a rigid brain. If you kick around something like that, it will shatter into useless shards, breaking the individual.

Pills and liquor may turn the brain to Mush, but that is still better for the brain than watching the nightly news.
