I was lying down in bed, and had woken up. Eyes were still closed though. As my eyes were closed, my vision changed. It was something else. Not the usual blackness. Instead there was a grid. A bunch of squares. There was a dull grid pattern. It looked like a bunch of pixels. It reminded me of virtual reality except the video game wasn't running.

And here's the thing, it was not a dream. It didn't feel like a dream. It was me, with my eyes closed, staring at pixels. As if there was a computer screen in front of my eyes that was turned off, or not working.

Now take a moment.

Take a moment and really relax your eyes.

Let them feel like they are drifting inside of your skull.

And remember what your skull is supposed to be.

It's just a few bones fused together, just something that keeps your eyes and brain in place.

And remember that your eyes only detect light, and they don't even detect that much of it. They cannot see the ultraviolet, or the infrared.

They just detect things, like your skin does when you "feel" something.

And they lie to you.

When you see something big that is far away, why does it look so small?

Is the Sun actually that small? It looks like you could grasp it in palm of your hand.

But they tell us it is very large, something so big it is almost unimaginable.

This is a trick, played on you by reality.

This is a trick, you don't really see anything.

You, you're nothing more than a brain inside of a glass jar hooked up to sensors, attempting to see the light.

But you are just a brain interpreting input.

You are just a brain.

You are just consciousness.

You are just a series of thoughts flowing through a void.

And you are so much more.

i'm scared that i understand this.
