I got laid off last Friday. I had worked at the same company for about 2.5 years..which in my industry (digital marketing) is about the average length of time for anyone to work at a place.

I began working there before COVID, and the company was already entirely remote (they’re based on the west coast and I’m in Texas) even before COVID. So, apart from being forced to wear a face diaper when I got groceries, nothing much changed for me personally.

I received a job offer the same day I got let go, though it’s a contract position. I’m not really crazy about a contract job, but I’ll take it if I have to.

Anyhow, I began looking for new employment the next day after being laid off, despite the contract offer, which I’m keeping as an option for the time being.

I’ve been looking for 100% remote employment because I’m not going to take the deathshot and wish to avoid anyone telling me I have to.

So my resume is public on these job sites, so between me looking and people finding my resume and contacting me, I’ve been talking to a lot of folks in the last few days.

So this guy hits me up, he’s the CEO of a small but successful firm that’s local to me. Says they’re 100% remote for now, but they used to meet in office two days a week to strategize. It sounded like there’s a possibility they’re going back to the office maybe at some point, and I’m assuming that if/when that happens, I would be required to vax. So I told him I’m looking for 100% remote and basically that I’m not interested.

But he insists that we talk. I check out the company and I like what I see…though the eventuality of a vax mandate lingers in my mind.

So we have a call, and he mentions that he thinks it will probably just be remote from here on out. I decide to clarify to him that I don’t have a problem meeting in person a couple of times a week, but that coworkers may not want to meet with me because I am not vaxxed and I am not getting the vax. Basically told him that I’m looking to avoid any such mandates, hence my search for 100% remote.

The guy then proceeds to tell me that he also isn’t isn’t vaxxed nor is he getting vaxxed. Then starts saying all the stuff I already agree with about how “it’s experimental” etc. Finishes by saying that he supported that last president, though he’s not real happy about Trump pushing the vax and also that his company will never have a vax mandate.

We’re in salary negotiations right now, but I really want to work for this guy.

All that to say, not everyone is a woke retard. I made assumptions because this is a fairly woke town and in my industry, there are a lot of woke retards.

I don’t even know this dude very well, but I like him and already want to work for him.

Bingo, you nailed the geography. I’m not actually in the city, just outside of it. I rarely go into town anymore. Quit going down there after I got married the first time. The woman I’m with now and intend to marry wants to live in the sticks, and I am fine with that. She is also based AF and wants nothing to do with the woke retards in the city.

Other than the woke retards, it’s a great place. Beautiful. We just need to expel all Californians and we’ll be good.
