I was just told that our family (in a deep red state) needs a negative test if we are going to go see my wife’s family that is in a blue state. Of course the people we are visiting are all vaxxed. Their TV is telling them that the red states are having major outbreaks. Her mom lives alone.

I’m like sure, no problem. My wife wants to see her mom so I can do that without much complaint. My MIL is cool, so I can budge a little. It’s also a home test.

Then I did some research for Covid cases and saw that my state and county currently only has 1/3 the per capita cases that the county we will be visiting has. I shared this information.

Now because of this I am saying that everyone visiting us at that house must also have a negative test since cases are very high in their area, and I don’t want to catch it from them. One of the relatives does nails for a living, so is around customers all day. If they don’t have a negative test, then I don’t want them there. I’m just playing their game. My second option is that only we test before we visit her mom and absolutely nobody comes over. Third option is nobody tests and we social distance, fourth option is we stay home.

I don’t care if I catch Covid, but would like to avoid it. I’m already in a win-win situation and all because of data.

Update: Everyone that enters that house will be tested. Yay.

5th option is you buy home tests for everyone attending and have them all take the test after arriving.

I mean they only take 5 minutes and they can wait in the car for the results.
