What you say is true. You point out then, we don't actually have elected representatives, rather we have corporate proxies. Even when the people elect representatives, they become compromised and morph into corporate proxies. We can argue whether they need more money or not. However, more money is a powerful incentive to politicians to do the bidding of their sponsor. Taxpayers don't compete well.
