Not in a long while.
I enjoy making draw bridges with archer slits on either side. Then use a draw bridge to prevent exit from the draw bridge room. This way invaders are stuck inside until the archers finish them. Can easily compliment with traps prior to this room. Use bridges to control flow through trap rooms.
Doesn't really work for caverns. Almost always die from beasts below. Was never a good player.
