Last night I laid in bed on my side with my eyes shut, listening to some metal, and generally enjoying myself. Started to be able to see myself from behind and noticed black tentacle/vine things creep up and over me while at the same time feeling their embrace over me. I called out to the being in my head (I guess it's name is Amnerath, not sure where I pulled that from), and told it to leave me in peace. I saw/felt it slowly slither back off my body and presumably back where it came from without a word. Wasn't a dream, because I was still consciously enjoying my music as well.

Not sure what in the actual fuck happened or why. Maybe caffeine was involved, I had some a couple hours prior.

Also, is there a better sub for something like this? I tried looking up a few different possible sub names, nothing.

Typical OBE. I'll bet the room looked a bit grainy as well, right? (you see through longer wavelengths when you astral travel, which give you lower resolution images than you get through your eyes. You're seeing in infra red.)

The reason for the tentacles etc is because our perception of reality is constructed in our minds as a function of the structure of our minds, and we don't usually see literal reality in the original analog encoding. (For a demonstration of that, try listening to the famous laurel/yanni audio file, or looking at the photo of the dress.) When you alter the state of your mind, the perception of reality changes with it since the decoding is altered.

So what do you suppose I was actually seeing instead of tentacles?

What makes you think they weren't really tentacles?
