In the netherlands 80% of the people are vaccinated, i don't follow the news so when i arrived at the supermarket there was a sign saying facemasks are mandatory. i went in anyway as i needed food. a few masked people gave me a thumbs up and i wasn't bothered by anyone while shopping. when i went to pay for my stuff i went to an automatic pay desk, usually i stand in line as i try to pay as much with cash money as possible, for i am weary of the future. where we have to pay health insurance according to our shopping habits. (yeah i know, i am slightly paranoid about totalitairism.)

as i went to pay for my stuff, i noticed two young employees discussing weather or not they had to adress me and finally one of them went to get an older women. she asked me if i had a mask and i told her i don't watch the news so i wasn't aware the vaccines didn't do trheir job well enough to protect those that are affraid. she told me i wasn't allowed to pay for my shopping and that i had to leave. i asked her how else i would have to get food and she told me i could have it home delivered and i should get take out for today. i was starting to get upset and i she treathened to get the police involved. i know i should've stayed, but i emptied my basked on the floor and i walked out. i feel so powerless and depressed right now, i don't know how i can deal with this without letting it suck all my energy out. i could start a journal, but i also like to hear how you would deal with this.

we have marches against these regulations, but it feels so useless. the kingdom will do what the kingdom will do. it's infuriating and it breaks my spirit.

if poal is not the place to share these sort of things, i will not post stuff like this again, i do feel slightly better having written this.

Might I suggest:

If you decide to stand your ground, have a mask in your pocket for when the cops show up. We need heroes, not martyrs. The "System" likes to make examples of brave people to scare the weaklings. Perhaps it is best to nudge and nudge without open warfare.

You mentioned the rallies. Find the organizers and consider getting a rally to include parts of the crowd going into retail businesses and restaurants, erven if just to buy coffee. Unmasked faces will eventually become commonplace if seen in the marketplaces. In groups, shout, "take off your masks!" and see how many people do so. It's a start. This battle will be a long one.
