Flu's 'problem' is that it's so fucking weak that everyone gets it as a child when the immune system is still immature. It changes enough that no vaccine will ever exist for it.
Cancer's 'problem' is that a cancer cell is YOUR OWN CELL, just slightly broken. And I really do mean slightly. Because it's so small of a change that there's no way to detect it. If you were to ever cure cancer you'd wipe out the animal kingdom with the same 'cure'.
