They cared more about profit than waking the sheep 20+ years ago. It seems they realize now the implications of the movie so that is probably why they decided to create another movie in an effort to kill the series like they did with every other series they have subverted.

Matrix is just another angle/attempt to put you the lenses that will lead you to a road where you will end up with the realization that selling your soul and deny Christ is a good thing (aka break free and wake up from the matrix). We (those who were baptized and still have our souls) are the machines while the "humans" are those who "free themselves" from the matrix (separated themselves from God and His plan). Half truths are put there to legitimize some lenses, there is also a sort of reversion of reality when it comes to how the agents act, basically the end result is deception and an attempt to put several lenses to several groups of people that are in different "paths" in order to lead them further from God and closer to satan
