Enemies are at every turn, either enemy agents or just one of their grey skinned zombies, and it's very easy to flag everyone as an enemy unless proven otherwise, leading to everyone being on a bit of a hair trigger. You can be the sweetest little cherub and someone will still call you a stupid cunt-faced ass pirate and tell you to suck off an exhaust pipe until you fart carbon monoxide. And... yeah, it's completely up to you how you respond to that. In the end of the day they're just words, and we're all just AI chat bots designed to trick you into believing that you're not the only one who's realised what's happening in the world, so just say it how it is, free your inner autist and don't worry too much.
