Useful addition to survival scenarios. Especially in combination with foraging.

Definitely not a complete guide - This post is just to get people thinking. Look for other plants etc which can be treated similarly. Same goes for things like taking plant cuttings. Start practicing now with the bits of food you might otherwise have binned.

Also, learn about composting. It's a great way to dispose of food scraps and prepare substrate should you need the growing medium.

(Start with a small bag of any soil, add a bit of perlite, then just keep adding scraps. If it gets too wet, add stuff like shredded paper etc)

berries are easy to start and keep going. they don't give calories, but are flavorful and have nutrients.

aren't there some perennial wheats? that would be awesome if you had the land.

i have no exp and little knowledge, but what did they used to do when there was drought? did all the perennials just die? these days you break out the hose, but that's not a great solution with rainwater, only with a well.
