Voat was unique, it was the only alternative at one time, very small like ramble.pw for example... and Poal is very unique, Poal is strong today missing Voat's silly root, its first root at voat was Libertarian Artist type site that followed Hillary vs Bernie...a lot of the Ron Paul Libertarian root with all the buggy glitches, voat started as a Bernie type site, scifi, music people, meme people launched as “WhoaVerse” way back in 2014, and was renamed to “Voat” but when people asked the wrong questions it got attacked. Back in the day Bitchute or Gab or Poal didn't really exist much and voat was one of the few other places where discussion was allowed kinda like the chaos of 4chan, it was the scary anarchy alternative, it could come under spam attack for days.
Voat had shakey foundations, you never knew who ran the show, it seemed to be Atif Colo project I dunno I hear he was bosnia maybe ex albania type muslim moving between Sweden and Switzerland doing college he wasn't bad, allowed people to bash islam, the site was always getting de-monitized, adds pulled, country domains would ban voat. Then as Atif quits a new guy Justin Chastain ran the show but most of the time you didn't know who ran anything, it just seemed chaos. Just when you seen news, a news story about a big event and an online vid or wikileaks about to break, the site could be hacked, 404 errored go offline for hours. When voat got back it front page could suddenly be very 'normie' like notabug.io or some other PC upvoter downvotes social media site.
As stupid and buggy as voat was its guitar sub always surived and got the Friday Night Guitar out every weekened, the thing I don't miss were all the downvote spammer brigade mafias, a gang could come after you for sayng something 'offensive', one of the more funnier times as when 'Soapbox Banhammer' got into a Spam war with the Q-Anon crowd who just got their asses banned from some normie Donald qanon social media shithole and the Mod or Admin stepped in and banned soap box for a day, it was one of the few times I ever seen voat 'moderate' anything. I think soap box went to ruqqus.com/+SoapboxBanhammer for a while before getting banned, or maybe returned to phuks.co or whatever faggot shill anti-American shithole they originally came from, I never figured out their agenda but they did seem to have one. I know a big chunk of the Q-Anon thing was probably some kind of religion, a narrative control by way of a digital online cult, I'm not against the idea of prayer or a 'GreatAwakening' but whatever place is the center of Q-anon it ain't really here at poal.
