Having worked in a hospital for y2k, all wardrobes exposed to dangerous contaminates require treatment as such. They are deposited in special containers which are locked. They are then handled by specialists who protect themselves while either cleaning or destroying the material.
Kinda figured, I've seen band-aids thrown in the bio bins.
Yeah, a very interesting point I hadn't considered. Not to mention the fucking litter! Who the fuck throws their masks on the ground?
masks don't normally go into biohazard bags/containers unless contaminated with blood or something like that; but gown, gloves for sure. I believe the only mask that can filter a virus are the big respirators with the filter canisters on them. Back in the day where I worked used these really brutal masks fitted to the face for RSV season (respiratory syncitial virus) and they didn't work that well.
It's all so ridiculous. A mask strong enough to filter the virus is also one you wouldn't be able to breathe through. You'd need powered equipment to do so.
In other words, the masks everyone wears don't do anything at all, and if they do partially protect from the virus, it's offset by the false sense of confidence they provide.
unless contaminated
That's the point. They have declared them contaminated. Yet they are not treated as such.
