Even though I have 3 pairs of £100+ headphones, the other two are rubbish for making music, the ones that were good for that just had the right earpiece stop working. They weren't even any headphones made for recording, just some crappy Asus gaming ones, then I also have some Steelseries and Creative ones that are both crap for making music. The Creative Aurvana Platinums sound great for everything else, but they add loads of fake surround / reverb that ruins recording. The Steelseries don't work with a headphone extension cable as they are meant to be plugged into their own stupid external amp that I don't even remember where I put, I just use them on my Piano now.
I did a little google fu and ordered a pair of Sony MDR-7506/1, now have to wait for those before I can continue making my songs.
Edit - Cancelled the order for the Sony ones and chose Shure SRH840-BK-EFS instead for the detachable cable, as the reason my current ones stopped working was the cable always being dragged under my chair.
