I was an alcoholic once. Then I quit. Exercise helps. Productive hobbies and study help. Quality diet helps a lot. Not being a weak-willed bitch helps the most.

Best you did and to admit/realize is the biggest part. Too much garbage says things like;

It's not your fault!!!! It's blah blah blah

It used to be. Long ago;

First step to fixing a problem is admitting you have a problem.

Or something like that. But now it's

Nuhhhhhh ur a victim!!!!!

Which creates a positive feedback loop.

Addiction used to he seen as a character-destroying shame. Now it's just passed off as a minor flaw. I'm glad I quit, and ashamed I was ever addicted.
