I can stroll into a crowd of people with bosses and some skills and education anywhere on earth and fit right in. But i am an alien among homeowners even in my old ethnic enclave neighborhood.

Correct since each tier is built on the degradation of the tiers below. Really there's no defensible reason for an organism to need another organisms approval to dwell and feed where it's dwelling and feeding. The only conflict would be if both needed to dwell and feed in the same place with only enough capacity to house and feed 1.
