I'll do a couple examples from the Old Testament and one from the New. The acts of David's mighty men in 2 Samuel 23:8-39. Fighting against the Canaanites who were continuing to spread the worship of Moloch. The same Canaanites who the jews kept forsaking God and following after. >Blessed be the Lord, my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight. -Psalm 144:1 When rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem in Nehemiah according to God's commands: >And it came to pass from that time forth, that half my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, the bows, and the habergeons. They which builded the wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon. For the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so builded. -Nehemiah 4:16-18 And regarding providing for our dependents, shelter, food, safety. >But if any provide not for his own, and specifically for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel. -1 Timothy 5:8
