Agreed. I actually spent way too much money on a fucking wallet one time. I've had this wallet for decades (Saddleback). It was not a mistake.
The company made a video of why their stuff is good and why the competition is fake crap and made sense. It was so obnoxious but funny. I cannot find it right now.
E: Also, I believe at the time their slogan was "your kids will fight over it when you are dead." Or something like that.
E2: I still have the wallet, and I don't think I will ever need a new wallet again in my life. The fucking thing is so solid.
A well designed and built product will not only serve better the first time versus cheap, it will continue for much longer doing better. Sometimes paying 5x the cost equals 50 x the savings over time not including the satisfaction of it working better.
Exactly. But on the other hand, sometimes it doesn't. Just to be real.
E: That is why "word of mouth" is important.
E2: I should so post a picture of my old wallet. The stitching is still completely non-frayed. I recommend Saddleback (at least two decades ago).
E3: Watch, some jew company bought them out and they suck now just leeching off the reputation ...
I bought a kitchen related product some time back, well recommended by many. I have not been so impressed by a simple product in a long time. Yes, it was 2-3 times the cost of a decent competitor, but every single detail (and I can be an incredibly nit picky critic) from material of construction, to assembly, to design to even every aspect of packaging down to the way the selection and placement of tape on the box was thought out. Even apple only strives to be this good in packaging. This item will likely last well beyond my children’s lifetime, likely generations into the future. It was also intentionally built using commonly available bearings and wear components that are available at auto parts stores for future repair. In all my searching, including commercial versions costing much more, nothing compares. It’s a small family run business too, no call automaton wait to ask them a question.
I wish I could find this quality for everything I buy.
