I love church, I find it super helpful, but boy does it take up so much time of the week. I was trying to workout, since I try to go for 5 ish times a week, and there always seems to be something unexpected that shows up. And on one hand, I get it, they want to hang out with me, but on the other hand their activities are encroaching to the point I can't seem to get anything else done. And sure I could modify my schedule around this, but it seems like this church is so desperate for members, that they almost come of as the mega clingy girlfriend in the process.

I care about the bible study lessons, Awana and sunday service. The pastor tries to bring up the whole tithing thing a lot, but claims he's not after my money. Part of me is also not used to having friendly people invite me to places, it comes off as weird to me

You need to give. Maybe not to that church (though that is harder to justify), but it is part of the new man that you probably think you are in Christ. Why would you call him "Lord" but not do what he says?

And when I say you "need" to give, it means in two ways:
- moral obligation. It's in the law, and Jesus upheld this specifically.
- for your own benefit. Like "you need to work out" - it is good for you!

Tell them "Awana spend more time apart, it's not you , it's me"
