You are getting flak from tards, but what they don't realize is that correct English has a purpose, and it is not to make you sound smarter than other people. The reason to use correct English is clarity of meaning. When you speak and write correctly, your meaning is so clear, no one can misunderstand you. "Can" and "may" are different words with completely different meanings, so it makes sense to use them correctly.

I bet you get a lot of quiet stares from people after letting them know this "fact". It's okay, they're just mesmerized by your amazing grasp of advanced language use.

Since when has correct English become "advanced language use"?
