tattoos are always shit... because life goes on. It's done with zero regard for unknown future possibilities or people you'll meet later.
it's always shit to mark yourself. If you care about someone or something so much, you will remember it daily without the need for ink in your skin which only pollutes your aesthetics for others around you.

In the instance of honoring the dead, the tattoo is meant to be seen by others. Same idea as a erecting a statue in honor of someone.
It gets people to ask what it's all about, allowing you to spread the legacy of the fallen.
Again, in the VAST majority of cases, tattoos are retarded.

Death is a part of life. You're honoring the legacy of those who came before you. You seem to believe this should NEVER be done with ink on the skin. I disagree.
