The United States lost only about 1/2 million, an insignificant number compared to its population. Ditto for France, and the British Empire. Most of what you are saying does apply to Germany and Japan.
Yes but you forget, many of these men self-selected.
And many more were drafted.
Honestly: do you find it hard to believe the people running the united states would use voter roles to draft all their political opponents into high loss divisions?
