Do not be fooled by the Chinaman and his economy, there's better made stuff over here. Stop buying crap you don't need from amazon. A few years ago I started buying my kids made in the USA tools every Christmas and birthday so that by they time they grow up they'll have a good set of about everything they'll need. Watch out for Craftsman, most of it's made in China or Israel now, they are purposely trying to move manufacturing jobs out of the US.
There's all kinds of good stuff out there and I don't see it advertised, but I have so many adblockers I have no idea what the real Internet looks like. I don't watch TV either so maybe there are ads out there but I don't really think that marketing is our strongpoint as a people so I put some links below.
Looking at how expensive shoes are I have to think that there was a time when people had one or two pairs of shoes and getting new ones was a big deal.
