I ordered some with the intention of shipping some Christmas gifts to people, but they never arrived. I assumed that, along with a few items I ordered, they were stolen from my doorstep.

Today, I see they're sitting on my doorstep. Almost 5 months after I ordered them, and this is an item that is supplied by the post office, for the post office. I have no use for these boxes now, having delivered all the gifts by hand or other methods at this point.

And they wonder why their revenue is suffering.

For those of you outside the USA, you can order pre-marked boxes from the US Post Office, free of charge. They're set up to use the priority mail service, which is a fixed-price-per-box service, regardless of weight (up to about 70lb, I believe.) Basically, if it fits, it ships. These boxes are also available for pickup - for free - at every major branch, and probably most minor branches too.

Walk in, grab a few, and leave - no need to even ask a human.

The boxes are designed to be only used for priority mail - so there is that.

(but boxes can be covered in paper and/or turned inside out - but don't commit mail fraud)

On a side note - I was at the post office yesterday, and they still have "reusing stamps is a federal crime" posters all over.

Fucking feds allow all kinds of illegal shit to happen, but you better not fuck with a 55cent stamp!

Well, yes, they are. I tried that. Hit three offices around me, and none of them had any boxes available. They had plenty of the envelopes, but nothing else. I had to visit a PO in late November to renew my passport, and they still didn't have any.

Guess it depends on the area.

I visit my post office regularly and never see the stand empty.

Niggerzone? Maybe they don't send boxes to your area due to that? Or maybe they did move them behind the counter to keep them from being misused.

One of the offices is a definite nigger paradise, so maybe that's why. The other two and the passport renewal were in fairly tony areas. The general disarray of the displays said they hadn't checked or filled it in quite some time.
