Like most misc Asian weapons, numchucks are of Okinawan origin.... which I'm sure CCP would argue is part of China, like places such as Tibet, D.C......

After invading Okinawa, the Japanese confiscated all known weapons. The Okinawans weren't so happy about this and started adopting tools. Numchucks were originally an implement to beat grain.
Thanks, probably used by peasants against samuari.. Are you partial to rope or chain?
Been years since I've held a pair. Chain looks cool, and could block a knife, but seems to make movements less smooth. Chucks have a slow learning curve. It's really easy to bash yourself just practicing. Practicing with them is great for tbe wrists. If I needed to defend myself, I'd just hold them together and use them as a club. On the other hand, a tonfa is easy and intuitive.
