OC-43 is another beta coronavirus that is endemic and classified as a “cold virus”. Is is responsible for about 15% of the illnesses typically classified as cold, It is genetically related to the covid virus and shares long segments of rna in common. Having an OC43 infection may actually confer some low level immunity to covid through your t-cells. This is because you t-cells recognize some of the rna segments. Many virologist have speculated that this is the case. Perhaps that is where your confusion comes from. Sars cov2 was genetically engineered in the wuhan virology lab. The same lab that is across the street from the “wet market” where a spontaneous mutation supposedly occured. The wuhan lab has been playing around with coronaviruses in particular since around 2006. They were/are harvesting other beta coronaviruses from bats and splicing them together with the old SARS virus using CRISPR technology and then training the hybrids to infect human cells in immortal cell lines and humanized mice. The wuhan lab describes exactly what they have been doing in several studies that were funded partially by the NIH and Fauci himself ( as cited in the footnotes ) .
