So around 20 years ago I had to have a physical for work, and while I was there I asked the doctor to look at my toe which was like white instead of transparent and unusually thick. He said that it was damaged from being stepped on and when I'm old all my toes would end up like that. I smiled and thanked him, but wasn't satisfied with his diagnosis. Later a friend told me he had a similar problem and his doctor said it was a fungal infection, and was treating it with various anti-fungal creams and ointments, but with limited success. I realized maybe some of it was underneath the nail, and wearing shoes constantly wont help. So I started to pick at the nail, and then grabbed some clippers and kept digging, there was blood here and there and a few moments pain but I did manage to remove the entire nail. And it grew back just fine normal thickness no fungus.
