Well, it's easy enough to call something "stupid" and/or "groupthink", but it's a lot harder to actually substantiate such a claim.
If your whole argument is "that's groupthink, because a lot of people agree with it", then that same criticism can be directed against things like peer review, or alternatively traditional cultures with lots of adherents.
