It's the slab of hard wax oiled wood that I want... therefore I will be patient.

Why didn't you make it yourself?

I just bought a wash machine that had so much protective packaging you could have rolled it down a flight of stairs.

If the corners are dinged, put it on a table saw and cut 1/4” off each edge. This would give you all new corners. Repeat until damage is gone. Sand the sides you cut, rub with mineral oil. Edit: Who are you buying it from? J.Aaron makes great wood tops, but really expensive. They have decorative edges, ship prefinished, and if I remember correctly, use wood crates for shipping. I think they’ll even show directly to you house. They have a decent website.

A 2nd project is not what I ordered and mineral oil would damage a hardwax oiled (uniquely food safe) surface.

72' x 40' man thats one hell of a desk.
