What is a good and secure alternative?

Keybase didn't ask for your phne number, but it was bought by Zoom a couple months ago and now they are kicking off any 3D printed gun channels.

Element.io maybe...

I haven't heard of that yet.

Thanks, I'll check it out.

Voat and Poal have channels there.

Threema if you're looking for a mobile app to replace SMS without reliance on a phone number, Element.io if you're looking for more of a chat room based app.

Great, that's more in line with what I'm looking for.

How hard is it to get a burner phone nowadays? I'm sure you can find a homeless guy to straw purchase it for you if you're paranoid.

You have to activate them on an existing line or internet connection.

I thought it was an encrypted MMS system, and was using the sms/mms backhaul on phones. If that's the case, it has to have the number.

Good content. Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to let us know. Thanks. Take care.

Just use Threema. You have to pay a couple bucks for it but it's well worth it.

Every service is going to ask for a phone number, it's basic anti-spam. The question is do they store that number in a manner that connects with with your profile. That's where Parler fucked up.
