I really thought we would never have an ideological purge in the US. I thought we had learnt from the past, from the Holodomor and Mao and Pol Pot. But now that I think about it, I bet all those people who got purged also thought they had learned from the past.

people always reference 1984, which was about censorship, but our society is way closer to Brave New World. designer dope, sexual saturation, and endless recreation that the working class has been conditioned to be predisposed towards makes censorship unnecessary. nobody gives a damn, and the handful of World Controllers just sort of flit about, still privileged enough to lead a life that is mostly human
