He never really did explain why he was shutting it down, and money apparently wasn't the issue. There were plenty of goats willing to donate to keep Voat up. Also Putt reportedly had a whole lot of bitcoin he could have used to keep it up if money was an issue. No, he took it down for some other reason, and it seemed like he had a non-disclosure agreement with someone since he never said why. Maybe he was blackmailed. Who knows.
