It’s my opinion that the user base is too small for having the splintering of subs we presently observe, and the differentiation seems subjective at present.

I’ll admit I am coming at this from my own highly subjective point of view based on my recent experience, but I’m going to use this as an example:

Looking at the Politics sub as I write this, most of the stories listed are specifically about US politics, and even certain regional matters that have a national impact, such as ballot fraud in Georgia.

This morning I posted about the Trump to Biden transition being similar to Hoover to Roosevelt. A political matter that, while national, is also covering history, and even touches on the global matters of the Great Depression, globalist banking, corporatocracy, and C19.

Moments after choosing to post to the Politics sub, which I figured was appropriate based on similar content, and specifically opting to not post in “Whatever,” despite knowing that’s where the highest traffic was, I received a message that my post had been moved to a sub that I barely even knew existed - and I sort by all/New - USpolitics.

As a quick aside, I was posting from mobile, and I only typed in “Politics” as the sub when making my post, but didn’t select it from a drop down. If I made a mistake by not using the correct method for selection, then everything that follows can be ignored.

I have no objection to the move in principle. I think proper and specific categorization helps sort out matters, but at a point when the lion share of posts in Politics is specifically about the US, and the USPolitics sub has less than half of the traffic of the main Politics sub, the move itself comes off as arbitrary, and I also wonder if having a separate USPolitics sub at this time is even valuable due to the presently small audience on the site.

There is no prohibition I can see where my post specifically had to be placed in the less traveled USPolitics, rather than Politics, as the sidebars for both subs allow the poster to decide where he will place his post.

Again, it isn’t my site, and they aren’t my subs, so I accept the decision made by the admins as a matter of principle. However, I also felt inclined to at least bring it up. No offense is intended, as I realize running such a site is no simple task.

I am all for moving unrelated stuff out of some subs and any mod taking their time to clean the catch all whatever, but moving a politics post out of politics to "specific politics" is just a retarded waste of effort for a site like this imo.
