I work in the trades. I shake my head in sadness everytime I see a young women, who is always White, driving a fucking dump truck.
These women are giving up nurturing a family to drive around all day, making average money...
Women should go to college. Meet their husband, drop out and raise a family. If my daughter did this I would be so happy.
Edit: ideally they would meet someone at church but there is a conspiracy theory that White birthrate is low. Not many options at my church.
I worked trades for over a decade until I went to school to be an engineer (out of pocket).
When I worked trades there were not many women, the ones that were mostly were butch, single mothers that knew trades would pay enough to get by, OR women that wanted to be in proximity to men. I think I may have encountered 2 exceptions.
Ok boomer. Very cool. Things have changed since you put on your white hat. In my city women are pushed into the trades and it's showing. Very common to see women tri axle drivers, stream roller operators and city bus drivers.
Women are the backbone of the family unit. Working the trades is tough. Even you left for greener pastures.
Men make that sacrifice so their wife doesn't have to. If you're a women and you are really set on a trade, look to healthcare. There are a lot of jobs in healthcare that are more suited to women's schedules and needs.
It hasn't changed that much in 10 years, I'd be surprised to see any construction site with even 10% women workers.
Equipment operators and trades are separate. Much easier to get a ticket to operate a forklift or steam roller then it is to become a journeyman plumber (for ex). I have yet to encounter a female plumber that could not be confused as a man from behind.
Working trades IS tough work, but rewarding both psychologically and financially. I got out of trades more for physical reasons than I did for financial reasons (though the financial benefits did come eventually).
There are alternates, which is why my observation that many / most women in trades are either butch, single mothers or slutty women that like working in an area where they get a constant stream of Male attention.
