My claim against an employer that refused me a guaranteed interview for disabled people was accepted by an employment tribunal!

This is my first time doing this, and I asked for 6 months of full time wages which is about £9600.

I might not even get close to that much, but that's what one of the employment solicitors said I could claim.

Its voluntary for employers to opt into the scheme, but once they do they have to do what it says. Its called 'Positive about disability / disabled people', and once an employer opts in they are listed as a 'positive about disability' employer, and get to advertise this with a logo.

So the employer CHOOSES to opt into and advertise that they are a 'positive about disability' employer for street cred, this just means they have to guarantee interviews for disabled applicants, they dont have to give you a job after.

During the job application, there was an option for 'Are you applying for a guaranteed interview under the positive about disability scheme?', and I selected yes.

They still didnt give me an interview. So now I get money.

So its not that I am doing anything 'entitled', I am suing for not getting what the employer advertised as a member of the 'positive about disabled' scheme. If they didnt want to give me an interview they never should have opted into the scheme in the first place.
