Just one month ago, everyone was screaming and sperging out about the lack of media coverage on the Wuhan Flu, like it was a major story that the mainstream media was completely ignoring, and that we were all going to die from it. To be fair, I also engaged in this rhetoric.

Now that the mainstream media is covering it constantly, the attitude has completely flipped, to the point where half of you think it is a hoax because you don't know anyone who has died from it.

The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle, but I feel like Poal has a very specific demographic that doesn't quite see how hard certain people will be hit by this.

Most of you are fairly well educated and/or technically skilled, rural, semi self-sufficient, and homosexual, from what I have gathered.

You don't neccesarily see the population segments that are going to be hit by this really hard.

Every single person I know in the restaurant/bar industry has been laid off.

About 3/4 of them did not pay rent this month. In PA, this will likely last until May, when I suspect ~95% will be unable, or unwilling, to pay rent.

They have no money. They don't claim cash tips, so their unemployment is a joke.

They cannot spend any money.

The restaurants themselves are no longer ordering from suppliers. They are not paying their landlords, their cleaning companies, or their beer distributors.

The ripple effect from this alone is going to be massive.

We are currently going through the boring part of a major crisis, But the doesn't mean it isn't serious!

Wait four or five weeks, and we will see shit really hit the fan.

You're right. Poal is lacking perspective on how things are in urban areas.

In defense of that it's easy to get into that contrarian mood when the news is typically hiding things or pushing an agenda. This is the result of low trust in institutions. Not that I mean to excuse the behavior. It's good that your perspective is here.

The Poal demographic is beautiful and unique, like a spring tulip ready to blossom.

But I am the haggard dandelion growing between the cracks in the sidewalk, fertilized by pigeon's shit and crackhead piss.

I didn't think dandelions could grow with those kind of..."nutrients".

Just because its a bad time doesn't mean we should freak out over it. Prepare and adapt. The virus is a nothing burger, the comming collapse is real. Don't panic, buy ammo.

Actual honest question, did it seem like I was implying that everyone should panic? That wasn't my goal.

[–] 2 pts (edited )

You always sound like you want people to panic,. So in that yes, mission accomplished... oh wait you said wasn't your goal

[–] 4 pts

I'd disagree.

I want most people to panic.

I want Poal users to be prepared.

You didn't make a poll

Polls are for people who believe in democracy.

Is what we are seeing, the reverse of the Trickle-down effect?
